In the second quarter of 2024, the personal finance budgeting and planning landscape has shown interesting trends across various applications. Sensor Tower's data provides us with a snapshot of how the top five apps have performed during this period.

Splitwise saw its downloads increase from 1.38M in the first week of April to 2.15M in the first week of June, followed by a slight decline to 1.99M. Weekly active users started at 7.83M, dropped to 6.99M mid-April, and then peaked at 8.53M in the first week of June. Revenue showed fluctuations, with a notable peak of $483K in late April.

Money manager & expenses experienced a decrease in downloads from 1.78M to 1.63M by the end of June. Active users remained relatively stable, hovering around 21M with minor fluctuations. Revenue started at $47K and saw a mid-quarter spike to $64K before settling back down to $34K.

Money Manager Expense & Budget downloads varied, with a high of 1.73M in late April, but ended the quarter slightly higher than it started at 1.25M. Weekly active users showed a consistent range between 6.29M and 6.87M. Revenue for this app also fluctuated, beginning at $75K and ending the quarter at $62K.

Tricount - Split group bills had its downloads grow from 738K to 1.13M in early June, followed by a drop to 967K. The weekly active users saw a gradual increase from 2.90M to 3.34M in June. However, revenue was not a highlight for this app, as it dropped to zero after the first week of April.

Lastly, Budget planner—Expense tracker showed an impressive jump in downloads from 423K to 876K in late April, finishing the quarter at 844K. Weekly active users followed a similar upward trend, starting at 611K and peaking at 1.11M by the end of June. Revenue figures were not significant until late April and saw a peak of $44K twice in June.
